Subject(s) - Notes:	The backgrounds of the 3 lights are mainly medieval grisaille work, particularly important in the centre light, which has original roundels linking the whole window together.
Date Made:	c1250 to 14th century

Notes on Window:	We have used a date for the earliest glass in this window of c1250. Expert writings date it between 1240 and 1280. In 1842 the glass was moved from the East window (01) and re-arranged by W Holland. The Royal Arms of England at the base of the centre light are thought to be the oldest in Stained Glass in England. We now think that the Royal Arms were previously in the N window (11). More... In 1987 the glass in the centre light was lent to the Royal Academy for their 'Age of Chivalry' exhibition. On returning it was re-fitted at Chetwode by Albert Fisher.

		Centre light: Top of light with 2 roundels, and a lozenge with St John the Baptist. The background grisaille decoration is important as one of the earliest examples of the plant stems crossing over the lead lines between separate panes of glass, forming a coherent pattern.

		Centre light: Base with Royal Arms of England, of Henry III. In the 13th century they were described as leopards rather than lions.
		Centre light: Royal Arms of England - They should be facing the opposite way, but were presumably turned round at some time during their 750 year history.

		RH light: Top of light with a roundel decorated by vine leaves and grapes.
		RH light: An assortment of medieval glass, of which the central parts are reputedly the torso and right arm of a Crucifixion scene.
		RH light: Figures of St Peter with keys, and the Virgin crowned.
		RH light: Bishop holding a crosier, presumably St Nicholas, with the text below "Amicus dei Nicholaus". It translates as Nicholas friend of God, and was a Motet, a form of Gregorian Chant.

		Using old writings, this is our best 'guess' as to where the figures were situated in the E window.
