Burlison & Grylls (1868-1953) The firm of Burlison and Grylls was founded in 1868 at the instigation of the architects G. F. Bodley and Thomas Garner. Both John Burlison (1843-91) and Thomas Grylls (1845-1913) had trained in the studios of Clayton & Bell, and by the 1890s Burlison & Grylls were among the most successful stained glass firms in England. Latterly, the firm was under the direction of Thomas Henry Grylls (1873-1953), a founder Fellow of the British Society of Master Glass Painters. The firm closed with his death.
